Minister for Local Govt. Hands Over 254 Nissan Pickups to Districts

MLGRD 24/10/18 The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), Hajia Alima Mahama (MP), has handed over 115 Nissan pick-ups to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

Handing over the vehicles, she said the vehicles were solely funded out of GoG funds and that the vehicles were meant to augment the operational activities of the recipient districts.

Hajia Alima Mahama (MP) said an additional 254 Nissan Patrol SUVs would also be provided for the District Chief Executives and that they will arrive shortly for distribution.

The Finance and Administration (F&A) Director of Autoparts, Emmanuel Abuga-Williams, noted that the vehicles had been imported from Japan and that Nissan vehicles symbolized quality.

He explained that due to challenges at the Nissan production line in Japan, the delivery of the Nissan Patrol vehicles had been delayed. He however, gave the assurance that the issue had been resolved and that the vehicles will arrive in the country in December, 2018.

The Finance and Administration (F&A) Director disclosed that Autoparts, as part of its social corporate responsibility, had absorbed the cost of branding the Nissan pick-ups with the respective names of the Districts.

He also disclosed that Autoparts will provide free orientation for the drivers of the Nissan pickups. Additionally, Auto parts will provide servicing for all the pick-ups up to a mileage of 100,000 kilometers.
