DEPUTY PM PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
The Mauritian Deputy Prime Minister expressed her gratitude for Ghana’s support at the United Nations which led to a massive support in favour of resolution to complete the decolonization process of making the Chagos island a part of Mauritius.
She also described Kofi Annan as a skillful diplomat who excelled in conflict resolution thus bringing peace to a number of countries during his tenure of office. Kofi Annan, she noted was an international statesman and humanitarian who affected the African continent positively hence the decision of the Mauritian government to send a delegation led by her to participate in the final funeral rites of the former UN boss.
H.E. Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo noted that whilst in the country her delegation will review the various memoranda of understanding signed by the two countries and further explore other possible areas of cooperation and business ventures.
Hajia Alima Mahama (MP) acknowledged the good relationship that exists between the two countries and expressed the hope that her visit to Ghana will yield positive results.
