Inauguration of Advisory Board

The Senior Minister, Hon Osafo Marfo on Thursday 11th August 2017 inaugurated the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Hajia Alima in her address indicated the realignment of the Ministry's target areas in line with key deliverables of the new Government. The development of results framework with five outcomes and indicators for action which includes: increased participation of the citizenry in democratic governance at the local level, increased funding and financial mangement of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), improved administrative and human resource capacity of the MMDAs, increased economic growth and improved service delivery at local level.
Highlighting some achievements over the past seven months, the Hon Minister mentioned the validated Fee-Fixing Guidelines for the use of MMDAs to enhance revenue mobilization, 210 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in office and the constitution of a committee to work towards developing a Framework for the election of MMDCEs as well as review of the Local Governance Act 936 among others.
In concluding her address, the Hon. Minister stated: "Decentralisation and Local Government is a joint agenda and I am looking forward to executing a fruitful cooperation and collaboration."
