Minister pays courtesy calls on Metropolitan/Municpal Coordinating Directors

Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, on Thursday 23rd February 2017, paid courtesy calls on the Municipal Coordinating Director of Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) and the Metropolitan Coordinating Director at Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). Her visit was to ascertain the progress of work at the two (2) Assemblies. These visits commence her interaction with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The Hon. Minister with a five-member delegation from the Ministry was met at LEKMA by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) who is currently the acting Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly. The MCD showed the Minister and her team round the Assembly offices after which she interacted with some Assembly staff including the Finance Director. The Coordinating Director updated the team on the administrative works at the Assembly.
At AMA, the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, who is also the Acting Metro Chief Executive Officer, Sam Ayeh Datey, briefed her on general activities of the Assembly as well its challenges. Some Departmental heads, briefed the Minister on their activities and challenges as well.
Issues discussed at the meeting included decentralization, desilting of storm water drains, congestion, encroachment, the springing up of illegal structures, revenue mobilization, and boundary disputes, among others.
Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, urged both management teams of LEKMA and AMA to keep up the good work and assured them of her maximum support.
